Dear Jennifer: I feel like the past two years has been a long, continuous flow of disconnecting from many people that I thought I knew but I guess I didn’t because it has become very clear to me that they can no longer be in my life. At times this makes me very sad and I wonder what happens to them after we disconnect. Do we meet them again in heaven? Is there a possibility that we will reconnect at some other point in time? I know it isn’t my fault and I need to let them go but it is very hard for me to do this without some regret for what might have been and the hope that I served them in some way.
Jennifer’s Answer: Disconnecting is hard to do when our emotions get entangled with the energy that we are releasing. When someone makes it very clear that they cannot be in your life, either through their behavior or your realization that the connection does not serve you in fulfilling ways, it is because your energies do not match. They may want to connect with you in a way that is not possible for you, or you want them to be at a level they cannot achieve. Either way, it’s an energetic process and you can have more peace if you let go of the emotions and your own sense of obligation about these issues and understand the energetic exchanges that are happening, which is how we connect with people, or not.
It is very uncomfortable for anyone to try to be at an energetic frequency that is not aligned with theirs. Think of how uncomfortable you are when you around people you cannot connect with; they feel the same way about you and your energy. While we may believe that we can fix, heal, adjust, or manage the imbalance, we really can’t because the other person has to both recognize the energetic imbalance for what it is and make the choice to change their energy. Sometimes that happens, other times it doesn’t. Your gift to them is to show them the potential of a different energy. Their gift to you is to release you from the karma you share with them, which they do when they either choose or reject you, your gift, and the energy.
We connect with people for a purpose that serves everyone, usually in different ways. If you are dealing with people who are being challenging, then you are offering them an opportunity that they are not able to appreciate and you have closure with this karmic obligation. The karma in these situations usually involves commitments we make to others, wanting to give them another chance to do or to be in ways that we believe serves them or enhances their life in some way. But no matter how much we want them to accept our energetic gift, they have to be willing to do that and to be at the frequency to be able to acknowledge and accept it. Otherwise, they just view it as interference, manipulation, or a challenge.
There is always a possibility of reconnection in this and in other lifetimes because we are never totally disconnected from anyone. We are all connected to each other energetically and we are all one. While you may mourn the loss of a former friend, partner, or estranged family member, the connection you have to them is never broken on a soul level. Your work with them is really finished when you offer the energy gift and the rest is up to them.
So be glad that you are aware of the possibility that you offer, then step back and let the person choose what is right and best for them. They won’t make a mistake and neither will you. As you clear your own karmic obligations, cycles, and contracts, you allow new fulfilling, joyful, karma-free connections to become possible for you as you move forward on your own journey, which is what serves you best.
